Check out a new, exciting collaboration between Scouting and parents: CubScouts.org. Called CUB HUB, it’s a digital portal where parents of current and potential Cub Scouts can find original content and the best of the Web, all in one place. But more than that, says the BSA’s Marketing Communications/Brand

department’s Tom Rugh, Cub Hub is a place where Scouting families can post their own Scout-related content from Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, and other social-media outlets. “The primary target is moms inside and outside Scouting,” Rugh says.

“They’re on Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook, spending time each day on social media. And they’re looking at what other moms say about Scouting on blogs and other places. We pull it all together for them so that they don’t have to go to all these other destinations. That way, it becomes a community where moms share all these ways to interact.” These “gatekeepers and decision

makers,” Rugh says, can be a power- ful magnet to attract new families to Scouting, providing vital “digital word of mouth” about the organization. Rugh adds, “We want new people

to look at this and say, ‘Scouting is a good option for my boys.’”

High Fashion for The High Seas

The National Sea Scout Support Committee has authorized the NEW CENTURY UNIVERSAL SEA SCOUT UNIFORM as an additional option for wear by youth and adults. According to Keith Christopher, Sea Scouts’ national direc- tor, the new uniform does not replace the current dress whites, dress blues, chambray, and khaki uniforms. He calls the new wardrobe “an easily accessible alterna- tive for everyday and dress-uniform wear.” The New Century clothing can be purchased at scoutstuff.org.
