Try These Two Know Brainers Your council’s outdoor ethics advocates will want to attend the inaugural BSA OUTDOOR ETHICS CONFERENCE (Oct. 25-28). They’ll learn how to implement Leave No Trace in outdoor programs, how to present the LNT skills to others through Trainers and Awareness courses, and more. It’s being held at the Reynolds Training Center, Damascus, Ark. Details and reservation info at bit.ly/outdoorethics. Also at the Reynolds Training Center this fall is the NATIONAL

AQUATICS WORKSHOP (Oct. 31-Nov. 4), where council aquatic leaders, National Camp School Staff members, and others will learn the latest about 2013 camp standards, Safety Afloat/Safe Swim Defense, and other “wet and wild” topics. Deadline to register is Sept. 30. Details and reservation info at bit.ly/aquaticsworkshop.

‘Trailgating’ All Year Long National Trails Day took place June 2, but Scouters can hit the trail year-round because anytime is a good time for trail-cleanup projects. Get the new NATIONAL TRAILS DAY patch, schedule a trail project, and show your commitment to maintaining this great American resource. Find out more at americanhiking.org.

Get On Our Wavelength Don’t miss the 55TH-ANNUAL JAMBOREE ON THE AIR (JOTA), taking place Oct. 20-21. Last year, this worldwide Scouting and amateur radio celebration, the largest Scouting event in the world, drew almost 750,000 Scout participants from close to 150 coun- tries. For detailed instructions on how to participate, as well as great ideas for inspiring your Scouters, go to scouting.org/jota. You can also participate in a related event, Jamboree on the Internet, the same weekend. Visit scouting.org/joti for all the information about the JOTI weekend. A participant patch is available, as is a certificate/log sheet, for all who take part. Remember, Cub Scouts,

Boy or Varsity Scouts, Venturers, siblings, support- ers of Scouting, and anyone else can join in.
