THE NEWCUB SCOUT PROGRAM

Why the change?

Results show both children and adults are happier using the new curriculum. Pilot tests found the percentage

of children who remained in Cub Scouts under the new guidelines grew by 20 percentage points com- pared to dens that did not use the new materials. Scouts involved in dens using the new lesson plans were:

Three times more likely to attend resident camp (45 versus 14 percent).

More likely to participate in councilwide product sales (97 versus 76 percent).

T:7.5”

Volunteer den leaders won’t have

to plan each meeting, saving them time and effort. Leaders using the new Cub Scout lesson plans were:

More satisfied with the ease of preparing for meetings (94 versus 84 percent).

More satisfied with their role as den leader (64 versus 42 percent).

What’s the potential for Cub Scouts?

Twenty percent more Cub Scouts may remain involved with the program for a total of 350,000 more Cub Scouts sticking with it nationwide.
